For the growing number of tourists who chose to travel and stay in an RV (recreational vehicle) life on the open road offers a great sense of freedom.

You can explore the length and breadth of the country at their own pace with total comfort, without having to worry about train delays, flight cancellations, heavy bags and usual hassles that come with traveling for leisure.

The financial savings in supplements like accommodation and taxi fares are also a great bonus, and with thousands of holiday parks all year round in the British Isles, Europe and America, never really has been a better time to own an RV.

But there is much to consider if you are buying for the first time. Many would-be RV owners are divided between the purchase of a caravan and a motorhome.

Although it comes down to personal choice, there are advantages and disadvantages of both vehicles.

The main advantage of owning a caravan is the simplicity of being able to park, disengage and stop while you explore the surroundings of your car.

Make small movements in something bigger can be difficult, especially when having to navigate narrow streets, busy city centers, winding coastal roads - not to mention nightmare of city driving!

Cost may also be a crucial point. Although heavily dependent on the model and age, the caravans are generally more cheaper than motor homes, and when combined with an economic wheel drive car are cheaper to run - and secure.

However, towing a caravan brings its own set of problems. Journey can be slow, cumbersome and sometimes dangerous process that many find it difficult to get the hang of.

Breaking, cornering and towing can become real obstacles when you are trying to get from A to B, not to mention the speed reduction is frustrating that the driving two vehicles at the same time.

Of course, there are drawbacks to owning a motor home as well. The purchase price, insurance, operating costs and economics Fuel is generally much higher, while the service and recovery can be expensive - and inconvenient.

There is also a maximum load law, which restricts the number of passengers it can carry a motorhome - the possibility of a problem for larger families.

Engine households tend to be much better equipped for modern driving and weather conditions. They are faster, more compact and easier to maneuver, often with braking systems more advanced than one trailer.

There is the comfort factor as well. Motorhomes are essentially a small house on wheels with all rooms accessible to the passenger - to go to the bathroom to relax on the couch to prepare food in the kitchen.

This keeps the journey to an absolute minimum and reduces the need for frequent stops - a particular advantage in short breaks, and a blessing if you are in a slow traffic jam!

But ultimately, the choice is yours - and if it suits a caravan or a motorhome better lifestyle, yet there is nothing like life on the road!
