Roadtrip Northland (Whangarei to Kawakawa)

Saying goodbye to Whangarei was not difficult because we went to Kawakawa and that means more union beach! So take the road back from Whangarei. Coming from the south on State Highway 1 through Whangarei until you reach a roundabout and take the road on the left. However, if you are still coming from the north on State Highway 1 until you see signs to turn right and head for the coast Kamo. Great beaches and I can say that the isolated beaches solve the coast of Ngunguru, Tutukaka and Matapouri. The city is small Ngunguru that will welcome you with stunning, like a secret, solemn and very safe beaches swim. Its river is one of the sites also good place to picnic, swim and enjoy windsurfing. The river is also popular for canoeing and kayaking which is not is a boring place for a stopover. You can also find a number of holiday homes and accommodation on Ngunguru whether to stay for more days that are really tempting, because you can find in a few moves away from the beaches and river. With all tired and all activities that spent the night at a holiday park close to our camper. We wanted to give us some sort of accommodation either, but her beach house this minimum of 2 days and that's not how long we intend to stay. For the morning and all very happy to get out of Paihia. We spent couple of hours exploring the gateway Tutukaka to the Poor Knights Islands, was a failure of not being able to move from a dive in Tutukaka as a dive site is first class like no other, even for first timers. The waters are quiet and large areas are perfect for master divers as well.

It's OK to go to the Kawakawa head to go through the same road, turning right towards the entrance of the coastal city of Whananaki, is the Barrons beautiful beach and the beach between the beaches of Kings is a camping and picturesque. SH1 back to visit the caves and fireflies in Waiomio. And strange, but it may want to take a detour slightly to the left of the road in the town of Kawakawa and take a look at the famous Hundertwasser Toilets Kawakawa. If you drive from Whangarei Kawakawa directly will take you 45 minutes. One of the most valued attractions of the city is a relic of the early Kawakawa solution is Mission House, built in 1832 and therefore the second oldest surviving building in New Zealand European.
