Leadership and Entrepreneurship
Leadership and Entrepreneurship Jamia Millia University Speech by Frank F. Islam
Teachers, Students Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen:
Before I begin my speech, I would like to acknowledge some people who have traveled with me from the United States. [Recognize]. Please give a warm welcome.
Thank you very much for inviting me to speak today. I would like to sincerely thank you all for coming and for their hospitality. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. As you can tell, I am honored, excited and happy to be here.
I am the student of the University Aligarh Muslim. My stay at Aligarh was inspiring and the memories are still dear. Aligarh gave me the basics to become a successful entrepreneur, to take on serious responsibilities, and most importantly, to become a passionate leader.
For me personally, has been a remarkable journey of Aligarh United States of America. I came to the U.S. in search of hope, happiness and dreams. I am a living example of someone realizing the dream American. I have the luck. I am blessed. My dream has come true. And I know your dreams will come true too.
Let me outline I want to briefly talk to you about today:
- I'll Start with the values that my parents instilled in me, especially the love of education ...
- Then I will consider the promise of India, and how its implementation requires the lifting of all ...
- Then see how entrepreneurs can catalyze the fulfillment of the promise of India ...
- After that I will share with you my views and experiences on leadership and entrepreneurship
Values
I have always depended on the values my parents instilled in me, especially:
- A love for education
- Eternal optimism about their hopes and dreams
- Be collegial and sincere towards all
- Holding firm in its standard of excellence
- And live in peace and harmony, being tolerant and respectful of the dignity of each person.
I still cherish all these values.
Education
We know many men and women of this great institution who have made significant contributions in all areas of life - from educators to politicians, poets, scientists and engineers. They have made their mark in the world and in doing so present themselves as role models to encourage those who have not yet reached their highest aspirations and dreams. We must do everything possible to ensure Jamia Millia remains a premier knowledge center. We must do our part to give back to our community, to strengthen our families and educate our children. I am deeply committed to educating our children. We must create an environment that allows our children to excel.
I hope, dreams and aspirations of future generations. It is our children who are the hope of tomorrow. As Prime Minister Nehru once said: "We build the manor in which our children can live, where all our children can thrive and where all our children can have a future brilliant. It's the future that calls us. "Remembering the past is history, not the destination. I remember a song from Fleetwood Mac - Do not stop thinking about tomorrow, yesterday is gone.
Education is the key ingredient to success. Education empowers people and strengthens nations. Education opens the doors for anyone to elevate themselves poverty itself. Improving the dignity of human beings, and increases their self-esteem.
Let's do our part to preserve, protect and promote the Jamia Millia culture. promise We back our commitment to the expansion and multiplication of the movements of this great institution.
As part of my commitment to education, I have created a charitable foundation. The main mission of the foundation is education. Programs offer scholarships to students who want to go to school but can not pay due to financial problems hardship.
Promise of India
You know, people like me - non-residents Indians - are global representatives of India and its peoples, languages, religions, values, cultures and history. non-resident Indians should look for ways we can become catalysts for growth in India.
India is now a major engine of world economy. India is attracting foreign investment and promoting a business climate that has created a vibrant new generation of business leaders. A new class of entrepreneurs is emerging in India, adding boost the country's economic boom.
Unfortunately, the enormity of the problem of poverty continues to affect India. India is shining only for a small minority. For all over India is getting darker. What we have in India is an island of prosperity in an ocean of poverty. lack of access to basic health, education, nutrition and health is a rotating base that opposes our citizens to advance in the pyramid of success.
Poverty drains institutions of governance, depletion of scarce resources, weak leadership and crushes hope. Poverty fuels frustration and despair fuel poverty. Poverty has no place in a civilized society. His place is in the museum.
It has been shown that poor people trying to get out of poverty would preferred to have the opportunity to improve their condition through their own work, rather than just receive a hand-out. We focus on helping people achieve their potential to succeed, rather than simply to applaud the end result of success in itself.
You and I, working together, need to dismantle barriers of the caste system in India. We should provide equal opportunities in education and employment to all citizens of India, regardless of color, caste, creed or religion. Remember that we are all children of God. Discrimination based on caste or minority status can shatter people's ambitions and dreams. Do not close the gap between wealthy and poor, but rather cause social unrest and slows India's ambition to become a major economic power, cultural and diplomatic.
Let us do everything possible to eradicate poverty. We must be united in our fight against disease, ignorance, poverty, tyranny and terrorism. Only when we are together we have the strength to succeed.
The best way to eradicate poverty is through education and entrepreneurship. Business and leadership can fulfill the dreams we all have, hope becomes a reality!
Entrepreneurship and Leadership
Now, this brings me to my topic today is "Entrepreneurship and leadership." I'm sure many of you here today have the desire, unit and dreams of becoming entrepreneurs. Dreams give us the strength that carries us through. Not we who have the dream ... Maybe the dream leads.
As an entrepreneur, I look at India and see the possibility of free enterprise and creativity to unlock many of the difficult problems we face today.
I love entrepreneurship. There's nothing like the excitement, the glory, the pure fun and excitement of starting something from scratch and see what become a major undertaking of staggering proportions. If you have the opportunity to be an entrepreneur, take it. Search for people passionate and driven and lead. Give all resources necessary, and then give them a little oxygen to breathe.
We must help our young men and women to become entrepreneurs. We provide advice Entrepreneurship and seed funding for implementation. These young entrepreneurs learn to build a business, develop a credit history and ultimately become employers themselves. As each new business is a strong result, we can be proud that we helped transform a young man in a leader.
For a successful entrepreneur, you need capital to turn the vision into reality. Governments and banks are obliged to grant loans to entrepreneurs.
I am a firm believer that everyone deserves a chance - a chance to get a decent education, a chance to get a good job, a chance to grow successful business, the opportunity to be healthy and happy family, and the opportunity to prosper. We provide opportunity to all people - not just a fortunate few.
Taking risks
Entrepreneurship is all about taking risks, being focused and committed. They are facing uncertainty with optimism, ingenuity and creativity.
We must leave our comfort zone, venturing into new horizons and experience new environments. We should not be afraid to take risks. If not, simply have to get up and try again. Perhaps we can not continue ... but, however, we must try again. Success teaches you how to move, but failure taught him never to go back. Therefore, the failure is the first step toward success.
Passion
Another important element entrepreneurship is passion. Without passion you can not succeed because it is the passion that keeps him struggling when times are difficult, as all efforts will at some point. Without passion, resources are never enough and that will dissipate quickly in the air. But his passion always find a Thus, even when the odds conspiring against his dream.
Focus
One of the most important ingredients of entrepreneurship for me is focus. When a company is not focused, is plant the seeds for future problems. When a company becomes a mile long and an inch depth, it loses its power. But when a company focuses like a laser, you can convert a few kilowatts of energy into coherent and powerful. When a company focused like a laser, you can drill a hole into a diamond, and may even cure cancer!
The lack of interest is like the sun that dissipates his immense power by shining its light in all directions. Focus is power. This creates a powerful perception of the will in the minds of your customers, employees and competitors. Maintaining a focus laser-like is effective in the long term. Not bear fruit overnight. You have to have patience. It takes a long time to turn around a battleship business River. I can not emphasize enough how extremely important focus has been on the success of my own company.
There are many opportunities for entrepreneurship in India. We must identify and exploit openings in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, education, communication, transportation and information technology.
Entrepreneurship is not primarily about profit maximization, but rather the participation of all stakeholders - ie, communities and people affected by the nature of your business. To be a good entrepreneur is to treat people with the highest respect and dignity.
Customer Satisfaction
Before speaking with you about leadership, I would like to say a few words about customer satisfaction and the role customers play in making a successful company. You should treat customers the way we all want to be treated ourselves. To interact better with clients, I developed the following values and practices to live by:
- Never try to maximize the benefit at the expense of building long term relationships.
- Giving customers a good and fair.
- Always looking for ways to provide clients to do business with you.
- Communicate daily with customers. If you are talking to you, you can not talk to their competitors.
- Not forget to say thanks.
What is leadership?
Now I'd like to talk to you about leadership effectively and efficiently. The long-term success of entrepreneurship is based on the formation of a generation of people with the skills to excel as leaders in business.
Before you can become a leader, you must first focus on growing yourself. After becoming a leader, success is all others about growing. Here are some of the other elements of a successful leader:
- Leaders have a clear vision and ensure that others not only see the vision, but also live and breathe.
- Leaders create environments where people can be truly compromised.
- Leaders relentlessly upgrade their team, using every encounter as an opportunity to evaluate, coach and build self-confidence same.
- Leaders exude positive energy and optimism that is placed on everyone's skin.
- Leaders have the respect of all people.
- Leaders give credit to others .... and often to blame when something goes wrong.
- Leaders establish trust to openness, transparency and giving credit.
- Leaders act with integrity despite the difficulty.
- Leaders have the courage to take unpopular decisions and gut calls.
- The leaders of the probe and push with a curiosity that borders on skepticism, making sure that your questions are answered with action.
- Leaders balance risk and reward.
- Leaders see mistakes as opportunities learning.
- Leaders are firm, but fair.
- Leaders are enthusiastic.
- Leaders all participate.
- Leaders are hard ... but tender.
- Leaders inspire learning by example.
- Leaders celebrate.
I would say more with respect to several of these qualities of leadership that I just mentioned:
In First, the winning companies embrace risk taking and learning. You must create a culture that welcomes risk-taking. However, to take prudent risks, which must freely admit when mistakes are made, and why. Thus, decisions of risk in the future will benefit from the lessons learned from the mistakes of the past. If you want to change, set the same example. You will love the exciting culture and create the results you get - and so will your computer.
The second leadership quality to note is that the leaders celebrate. Welcoming people feel like winners and creates an atmosphere of recognition and positive energy. The job is too big a part of life not to recognize moments of achievement. as many as you can grab. There is no easy formula for be a leader. Leadership is a challenge - all balancing acts, all liabilities, and all that pressure. Leaders care passionately about their people. In fact, leadership is really trying to help others succeed and grow.
We are not talking about employees, which is an important element of successful leadership. Leaders must listen to people who actually do the job. Build trust among employees. Empower employees. Allow employees to speak frankly. Respect for their dignity and recognize their contributions.
Leave want to say a word about the decision making process. Remember that you are not a leader to win a popularity contest - you are a leader LEAD! When making difficult decisions, leaders must balance the risk short-term long-term awards. It takes courage to balance risk and reward. Leaders must be aware of the strengths and weaknesses, motivations and prejudices to manage the right balance between risk and reward more effectively.
A leader must articulate how to achieve maximum performance with the clarity and openness. There are no secret formulas for success in business. But you must develop a business philosophy of tightly woven script that provides carefully clear guidelines for every aspect of business.
Leadership is about vision and values - knowing what you believe and then know when and how to act According to these beliefs. This means making decisions that involve some risk - based on instinct, intuition and faith - instead of decisions based exclusively on data.
My Experiences
I would like to say a few words about my own experience as CEO. Cultivated an organization that is very driven by the vision into a highly focused company that all employees knew exactly what was expected of them, and always delivered exactly he promised. I gave people at all levels of specific tools and performance metrics, and fact-based decision making. Managers at all levels in my company honor these commitments, attend meetings disciplined focus on the decisions and measure progress against stated objectives. I am surrounded by some great artists who gave birth outcomes.
Ladies and gentlemen, a sense of humility that unites us as citizens united by a common goal of doing what we can to benefit the humanity. You all deserve the opportunity to experience the prosperity. Entrepreneurship can help break the vicious circle of poverty. I do not want to sugarcoat the challenges be faced as an entrepreneur. However, you should be able to overcome these challenges and turn them into opportunities. Initially, you may experience disappointment, despair and darkness, but always remember that there will be a bright light at the end of the tunnel.
I hope and pray that one day the glare of this great institution will penetrate deep into the dark and light to the world. As Alexander Smith once said: "A man does not plant a tree itself. He plants for posterity. "Let us continue the plant and our children will reap the harvest.
Closure
I would like to close my speech with the words of Sir Syed:
"You have reached a particular stage and remember one thing, that when I took out the task, there was criticism of all against me were hurled abuses on me, life had become so difficult for me than years before my age, I lost my hair, my vision, but not my vision. My vision never dimmed, my determination never failed, I built this institution for you and I am sure that you take in the light of this institution far and wide, the darkness will disappear altogether. "
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak with you today. Thanks for your time, and commitment to make a difference in the lives of others. I wish you all continued success in the future and hope our paths cross again. I hope you reach your goals. I'm sure the challenge, and transform their passion into profits.
Remember provided, that no matter how high the past, or discourage the pace, I implore you to never give up on your goals.
