Why not to subcompact front-wheel drive trucks?

Everyone is asking for fuel efficient vehicles. Back in 1980 or so you could get a new VW Rabbit selection up either gas or diesel. The Subaru Brat was a great vehicle of little use and some even had 4x4 option. Toyota also rear-wheel drive trucks with Isuzu diesel engine. These small trucks get 40 mpg around more and went on for years. And Finally, the Toyota Dolphin mini motorhome ... although power was still last long and is the owner of 20 miles per gallon with a vehicle. You can only find one of these "rare" today's vehicles on eBay for a small fortune and who knows how many times a shade tree "mechanic" set one or the other about it. Of course, I understand that someone can overload a front-wheel drive truck with heavy weight and destroy it, but then again .... I would love have a Dodge Neon or Honda Civic platform based mini van that could make a little things and get 30 mpg. Any ideas?

I totally agree with the previous two meet! ... It is common sense!
